What Is R2v3 and Why It Matters to Buyers

R2v3 — Responsible Recycling version 3 — is the current iteration of the electronics recycling certification standard administered by Sustainable Electronics Recycling International (SERI). Certification requires third-party audits, documented chain of custody, data destruction protocols, downstream vendor accountability, and defined criteria for equipment directed toward reuse.
The Ready for Resale provision under R2v3 is specific: equipment sold for reuse must have been functionally tested and data-bearing storage must have been sanitized prior to transfer. That is not a recommendation. It is a certification requirement. Facilities that do not meet it lose certification.
ATR holds R2v3 certification across its processing facilities. Every lot listed on this platform originates from that certified processing stream. The equipment was tested because the certification requires it — not as a marketing choice.
